Button Queen Chair – aren’t the clawfoot feet lovely?

My mother kindly introduced me to the patchwork pieces of Kelly Swallow. Kelly is a designer based in the UK and uses a variety of fabrics to cover individually sourced vintage pieces from around the globe.  Each finished piece of patchwork furniture is one-of-a-kind and the fabrics are individually chosen to give each creation a unique personality.  The fabrics range from vintage to designer and include: Liberty, Kenzo, Designers Guild, Zoffany, Andrew Martin, Osborne & Little, Lorca, and Mulberry.  The company also creates custom pieces and will work with you on your individual design wishes.  They will certainly try to give nearly any piece of furniture a make-over!  The designer covers pieces in an array of grain sacks and mangle cloths as well.

This traditional frame is covered in a variety of colored flags – isn’t it striking?

I think this work is beautifully detailed and would certainly make an interesting addition to any room.  The pieces are carefully chosen for their striking frames, structure, and vintage appeal- and the quilt of fabric just adds to the brilliance of the finished product.  Each furniture piece from Kelly Swallow is a work of art in its own right.  If you are looking for that bit of whimsy to offset a living room or bedroom, this might be the answer.  And, how fun would a custom piece be utilizing your favorite fabrics and/or color palette?  The family heirloom that has been sitting in the attic just might have found the perfect dress – Kelly Swallow.
