India Hicks trunk show with studio b. the beach
Earlier this month, I took a summer trip to one of my favorite places to visit- the Florida Panhandle. I was so grateful to be invited by the amazing studio b. the beach to a trunk show and meet and greet with model, author, and designer, India Hicks. This chic and intimate event was the first trunk show and unveiling of India’s jewelry line in person. India exhibited her jewelry collection and also brought some of her gorgeous tote bags and tunics from the Sugar Mill by India Hicks, her store on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. I was greeted by the incredible photographer, Colleen Duffley of studio b. the beach and Colleen Duffley Photography, who was kind enough to share her photographs with me for this post!
India was such a delight to meet. Because of the soft metallic colors of my sheer shawl, she immediately suggested I try one of her tunics by the Sugar Mill. As soon as I saw the beautiful cream and chocolate brown silk pattern, I put it in my “must have” pile without even trying it on! I can tell you – it is a purchase I certainly don’t regret (thank you – India)!

Of course, with the addition of old weathered books and manuscripts bound with twine, I fell in love with the display of the jewelry. It was all done quite artfully and the displays were incredibly inviting. Colleen said she used local artist, Sherry Sandquist‘s art for the display as well as pieces from Antiques on Holiday and David Sheffield Antiques. India Hicks‘ ocean inspired collections looked right at home in this open and airy art studio that sits just steps away from the Gulf of Mexico. Her jewelry offers an understated elegance that speaks brilliantly – without trying too hard. I didn’t even know where to begin, but I knew I had to take tokens of this experience back to Texas with me.

India Hicks – showing guests a few different ways to wear and layer her jewelry pieces
A mix of guests came in and out throughout the evening and shared in the vibrant energy of the space. Of course, India, her team, and family simply lit up the room. Everyone couldn’t get enough of the jewelry and I certainly noticed quite a few ladies who went back and forth between several pieces without being able to choose! I was lucky enough to purchase an H initial pendant that is the same signature iconic pattern of India’s late father, famed interior designer David Hicks. I love it! I also purchased the brown and cream H patterned tote bag which India was kind enough to sign for me.
Guests shopped while sipping on India’s favorite cocktail: a Pimms Cup. Of course, the mix of sweet treats complimented the evening well. With studio b. and its seemingly flawless track record in finding the exquisite of the exquisite, it was all in excellent taste with a well curated display of chocolates, tarts, and macarons from none other than my favorite sweet spot in New Orleans: Sucré. In fact, word has it, that studio b. will soon be selling Sucré luxury chocolates and macarons around the clock. A dream!
I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to meet India in person and learn a little more about her jewelry collection. She even helped me pick out each and every item I walked away with, which made the evening all the more meaningful. It was another successful and memorable event for studio b. and I am ever so grateful to have had a small part of it. Cheers to India’s beautiful new jewelry line and a lovely event!
