For CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist and jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth, the process of making jewelry has always been a creative outlet. “I love working with color and love the way that jewelry brightens everything up,” she said. She seems to have a favorite piece from every one of her collections. “This season, I am loving the lockets I made exclusively for Ylang 23,” said Irene. She feels the greatest accomplishment in her career has been the fact that she has a strong business with loyal customers, loyal store owners and a wonderful staff. “I feel lucky for it every day,” she added. Irene describes her personal style to be similar to that of her jewelry- feminine but bold. “A lot of my style influences come from traveling and nothing in my closet is black. I’m very inspired by color. I love mixing unusual colors and patterns,” she added.
Irene admitted that the greatest challenge for her has been making something that season after season stays true to her designs and aesthetic. And, to be proud of the jewelry as a piece of art, yet still maintaining its ability to sell. She describes her clients as the best a girl could dream of. “They’re successful, independent women with a strong sense of style,” said Irene. She loves visiting Ylang 23 owners, Joanne and Charles Teichman and the girls at their store in Dallas. “Joanne is a dynamite saleswoman and really understands her customers,” she said, “I like the easygoing experience of being there. It feels like the perfect match… there’s nothing forced or pushy about it.”

On top of being influenced by individuals she meets and works with on a daily basis, Irene finds traveling to be invigorating. She feels most inspired at her home in the Venice Canals and just about anywhere in Mexico. Her favorite places to visit are San Miguel de Allende, Tulum, Deia in Mallorca, and “traveling back home.” She is constantly pulling inspiration from people and places around her on a daily basis and enjoys the steady growth of her company – adding that her business tactic is different than that of many others. “I am happy with the accounts I have,” she said, “I want to grow my business over time. I want to keep my product very special and exclusive, so woman can love the experience of buying and wearing it. I want to grow within the accounts that I have and build lasting relationships with my retailers.”

Right now, Irene is busy preparing for her trunk show and “Sip & Shop Event” at Ylang 23 in Dallas this week. Always on the go, what’s this busy jewelry maven’s favorite breakfast food? “I love breakfast burritos,” she said. And, the current read in her travel bag? “A Visit from the Goon Squad By Jennifer Egan,” said Irene. And, with an array of glamorous guests already looking forward to her appearance this Thursday in Texas, the jewelry designer is also excited to help her customers select the perfect piece in person at the event.
