This past weekend, I made a quick trip to Austin for the second annual Texas Style Council bloggers conference! I knew several of my Dallas blogging friends were attending and a group of my Twitter friends whom I’d never met! It was a lot of fun to meet and greet in person! On Saturday, it was raining heavily and of course, true to character, I didn’t bring the proper shoes (RAIN BOOTS). No, I packed suede Elizabeth and James platform wedges - perfect right? Well, this led me to spend a lot of time in the boutiques on 2nd street and Jo’s Coffee (the BEST) which ended up being quite perfect.
rewardStyle bloggers: myself, Courtney Kerr, Shannon Yoachum, Katie Bibb Anderson, and Merritt Beck
*Merritt’s coat is her grandmother’s and made of vintage feathers – isn’t it fabulous?
This trip, I didn’t bring my large camera because a.) there was a chance it would rain b.) my J.Crew Tillary tote was already heavy ENOUGH…. so please excuse the iPhone photographs, but I hope they tell at least a bit of the story and the fun we had! Seriously, I highly recommend you travel from far and wide to attend this conference next year – it’s a great group and it’s during SXSW!
The Charlotte skirt – by Emily Hallman
Austin based fashion designer, Emily McNeely (top picture), was wearing the most gorgeous long sequin skirt of her own design at Saturday night’s cocktail reception. Seriously, everyone was asking her where in the world she purchased her skirt! I can only imagine how pleased she was to say- she designed the beautiful piece herself!
Check out more of her work on the Emily Hallman website here.
Sunday – the conference was held at the Blanton Museum of Art on the UT Campus – a beautiful space!

So happy to find my friend Metsy Corter from Dallas at the Conference- a social media guru! We didn’t get a pic together — but follow her at MetsyC!
Shopping 2nd: I am OBSESSED with this chair from Mercury in Austin. It would look so good with my crescent 60s sofa… good thing it’s a three hour drive away from me right now.
Ever since India Hicks shared with me that her favorite drink was a Pimms Cup… I always order one when I see it on the menu! This one was so refreshing and I ordered it at one of my favorite Austin restaurants, Perla’s, on South Congress Ave.!
We heard from some great speakers throughout the conference! I really enjoyed listening to Caroline Wexler the Digital Content Director from Lucky magazine, Jean Sheidnes from Neiman Marcus, Amber Venz from rewardStyle, and Naomi Nevitt from Teen Vogue. Right now, if I could sign-up now for next year’s conference- I would – if only to hang out with such an inspiring group for an entire weekend again!
