prickly pears desert flower blooms (blooms once a year- so lucky to see this- from greenhouse design studio), skirt from Fancy Pony Land, photograph from Giant available at Wrong, shirt by Mara Hoffman, Cobra Rock Boot Company- custom handmade boots, Marfa Brand soap (to be sold at Anthropologie!)

Happy Friday!  Today I’m inspired by the colors and design of the desert- and rightfully so being that I’m currently surrounded by it!  On my second trip to Marfa, I found an array of new treasures- peoples, places, and things! On this trip, I had the pleasure of touring Buck Johnston‘s house, who owns the adorable boutique Wrong with her husband, Camp Bosworth and their home.  They actually live in an old church – which is partly their home and the other half is an art gallery. It was truly an incredible tour and I can’t wait to share more information with you from Buck, who’ll be contributing a fabulous City Style on Marfa very soon.

I loved seeing the Prickly Pear desert flower in bloom on this trip and finally purchased the skirt I’ve been dreaming about since last year (the one featured above) from Fancy Pony Land. Since the Fancy Pony Land store closed, I purchased mine from the Cobra Rock Boot Company in a light gray cotton with silver guns on the side.  I can’t wait to wear it with vintage boots all summer!

And, speaking of new stores and purchases, another amazing discovery was the Cobra Rock Boot Company that just opened late last year.  It’s custom handmade boots are made in the store with old production and sewing machines dating from the 1930s-1950s. I tried on a pair and they were so comfortable.  It felt as if the boots were molded just for me.  A bar of soap from the Marfa Brand Company is a must.  They smell AMAZING and Anthropologie just picked up the line!  And, of course, you can’t miss the gorgeous images from the set of the movie Giant (with Elizabeth Taylor) that Buck is selling in her store.  They were uncovered from forgotten negatives and are absolutely beautiful photographs that take you right back in time.  I hope you are just as inspired by these images as I am!

Have a very happy weekend!
